Conquer Wicked Apparitions This Halloween: How to Sculpt a Pumpkin
According to Celtic tradition, Halloween is when the spirit world and the world, as humans know it, comes closest together. The time for the dead and those living to meet, according to the Celts, was near the Halloween holiday.
On the other side of the coin, this opened the possibility of evil spirits reaching out to humans at the same time. The traditional protection for your home and your family comes from a carved pumpkin with a light in it.
However, if you don’t know how to carve a pumpkin you could be in trouble.
Basic how-to’s re: pumpkin carving

Don‘t delay in learning how to carve pumpkins and, in so doing, protect your family from evil spirits. Start by gathering a kitchen knife, some newspapers, a candle, and one or more pumpkins.
Pumpkin selection is one part of the project not to be taken lightly. From tiny pumpkins to giant versions and everything in between, the options for buying pumpkins never have been greater. Do you have a preference?
Well, it’s often a good idea to get one pumpkin for each member of your family. A rule of thumb is to buy tiny pumpkins when they are the protective symbol for a baby, and progressively larger ones for more mature members of the family. Mark the largest pumpkin of all for Dad, the family‘s patriarch.
With that settled, the next thing you need to do is bring all the items into the living room and spread the newspaper all over the floor. The seeds and inner matter you are extracting from the pumpkin can be messy, hence the desirability of the newspaper. Pumpkin juice can become a hidden enemy, so make sure you lay down plenty of newspaper to protect your carpet.
Grab your kitchen knife and make a circular cut around the gourd stem. Though the texture is less than desirable, reach inside the pumpkin and remove all seeds and matter that are inside. Again, with your kitchen knife, create eye, nose, and mouth images in the pumpkin. Triangles for eyes and noses and mouths sporting square teeth are common designs for those who carve pumpkins. Finally, put the lit candle in the pumpkin before the evil spirits come, and now, thank heaven, you know how to carve a pumpkin!
